Call for Nominations: 2027 Board of Directors

The Society of Marketing Professional Services Kansas City Chapter is accepting nominations for positions on the Board of Directors for terms beginning January 1, 2027. Serving on the Board is an opportunity to help guide the Chapter, support its members, and advance the many disciplines that contribute to successful marketing and business development within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

Nomination Process

Nominations may be submitted by an individual (self-nominations are the most common method) or by a petition. Petition nominations must be signed by a minimum of 10 percent of the chapter membership. The Nominations and Elections Committee will review all candidates to confirm their eligibility and select a slate of one candidate for each available Board position. The committee will consider each candidate’s qualifications and the professional balance of the full Board.

All nominations must be submitted using the form below by 5 pm Central on Monday, September 14th.

Eligibility

To qualify for a position on the SMPS-KC Board of Directors, all candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current SMPS member in good standing
  • Have the endorsement of your firm
  • Be committed to attending monthly board meetings and chapter events 

Board of Directors Positions

President-Elect
The President-Elect is a voting member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee. The President-Elect assists the president in overseeing the Board and serves as an additional resource for all positions and committees. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect shall preside at meetings of the Chapter, the Board of Directors, or the Executive Committee. When acting as President, the President-Elect shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President. To be eligible for election as President-Elect, the individual must have served on the Board of Directors for one year.

Secretary
The Secretary is a voting member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee. The Secretary ensures that minutes from Chapter membership, Board, and Executive Committee meetings are recorded and maintained as part of the Chapter’s permanent records. The Secretary also performs other responsibilities assigned by the President or Board.

Treasurer
The Treasurer is a voting member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer is ultimately responsible for the fiscal management and financial integrity of the Chapter. This position is a two-year term.

Directors-at-Large
Directors-at-Large are voting members of the Board of Directors and serve one-year terms. They are responsible for assisting with planning goals and activities, and for the end result of their committee.
